Ch-ch-ch-changes
Anyone have any experience with coloring their hair with temporary-to-semi-permanent dyes or funky colors (think hot pink)?
I've been feeling old lately, and I think I'd like to get back into doing fun shit with my hair (I used to dye my hair a lot in high school. Once I even accidentally dyed it a nasty green. Mom likes to tell that story). Problem is, I've got a semi-respectable job now. Of course, going over the work rules with my supervisor today produced no prohibitions on weird-ass hair colors (though the rules on tattoos and peircings were implemented after the big boss attended my wedding), but, well, you know.
Plus, my hair has darkened considerably since high school. It used to be dishwater blonde (thanks, Beth!). Now, it can only be described as ... brown. Kind of a lightish brown with blonde streaks that most people pay lots of money for, but still brown. I know that makes it harder to get a bright color, something that was so not a problem in high school (trying to dye it red turned it ... bright pink).
I'm frankly afraid to bring this up to my hairdresser (the guy they named Q after), because I know he'll say no to streaking my hair bright pink (yes, that's the idea). But, uh, yeah, I want to do it anyway, even though I'll have to go back in 4 weeks in a trim and hear about how silly I am.
So ... anybody got any helpful advice?

I totally wish I had advice! I just celebrated my 33rd birthday in February and while I don't mind all the gray streaking thru my brown hair, I sure do want something a bit more "young." But I always stop myself short cause I'm afraid that people will think I'm trying to be "too" young, I like being 33, I just want to funk it up a bit :) Maybe, I'll get brave enough after you post about what you do. I know you were hoping for advice, but heck, I've got 3 kids under 6, I'm lucky if I brush my hair everyday :)

ps I found your blog about a month ago and love the lunch pics! I was born and raised in Norwalk, Ohio and went to Columbus quite frequently. Your post about going to the Columbus Zoo was all it took to get me to bookmark your blog :) Someday, when we need to pack lunches again, we'll definitely get a lunch box like yours :)
I don't mind at all that you don't have advice - it's nice to hear that I'm not alone in this! :)
And thanks for reading! We're planning on going back to the zoo soon, and I'll definitely post more pictures.
Mom here...So you're not going to tell the whole story about your khaki-colored hair--the results of dying your hair coal black? However, your hair really was quite nice dyed pink. I'm not too sure about pink streaks, though--I think it might just look dirty. Let me know if you decide to do it!
