I need new music

I've been going through good music withdrawl for a while now (Kev would say for my whole life, but ...), and I could use some good music suggestions. I'll listen to just about anything, with a few caveats:
  • No traditional country - alt. country is often OK and I'll at least give it a shot!
  • No classical. I like it, but not what I'm looking for!
  • No new age or celtic stuff. Gives me the heebie-jeebies (I don't count stuff like the Pogues as celtic, FYI)
Other than that, I'll give just about anything a shot. If you give me names and suchlike, I can get them from the library and give them a listen.

Thanks!

Panic! at the Disco (kiddie punk), Brazilian Girls (multi-lingual, multi-genre, ultra cool), Jolie Holland (alternative folk), Goldfrapp (dance pop), Blonde Redhead (rocking alternative poet types)

Our new favorite of late is Wilco. Not new, I know, but new to us I also get to listen to some Dave Matthews and Tori Amos. After that, its all about the stuff they play on Sirius Kidstuff. Did you want to give the Wiggle a listen? :)

I think I'll forgo the Wiggles if you don't mind. :) But I've not heard any Wilco that's not been on the radio, so I'll go reserve that from the library. Thanks!

I can't remember if you are one of the few Americans I know who already like him, but Robbie Williams is always a great listen!

Dj Sammy (Dance/Techno) Cascada (Dance) Juanes (Latin) Alejandro Sanz (Latin) Stephen Lynch (Comedy....can be a little offensive at times) Scissor Sisters (Rock) Jack Johnson (Rock) Travis (Alt / Punk) Rhianna (Pop) Rascal Flatts (Modern Country) Rodney Atkins (Modern Country) Bon Jovi (I really liked their last album)

Jess, let's just hope our taste in music is closer than our taste in movies and books!

And Kimberly forgot to mention that Scissor Sisters is "the gayest band ever" sort of rock! They are fantastic fun.

Thanks, Kimberly! Those sound like some wonderfully eclectic suggestions!

And Lindsey, I hope so, too! I think of you whenever I want to recommend a movie - then don't. :)

Diva Kitty's suggestion is a good one. KCRW is my all time favorite station. The fact that they stream is a good thing for the rest of the planet outside of Los Angeles.

I've been listening lately to Grayson Capps, Trespassers William, Gillian Welch, Hackberry Ramblers, Sigur Ros...jeez, I just looked at the variety there and at first glance it seems a bit schizo. LOL
