There's a fungus among us
They appeared after the rains and hot weather we've been having. It's hard to tell from the photo, but they're five to eight inches high.
I don't know what they are, but I didn't want to risk the dogs nibbling, so I yanked 'em up.

The way fungi just pops out of nowhere like that creeps me out. (probably one of the many reasons I never liked the Smurfs :)
