Baby Mary Janes

Little Mary Jane booties for your favorite baby.
Sized for newborn to three months. For larger sizes use thicker
thread/yarn and an appropriate hook.

 Materials:
2 colors size 3 crochet thread
2.25 mm hook
Yarn needle
Gauge:
After round 1: 2.75” long, .75” wide
Stitches Used:
ch – chain
ss – slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
 Notes:
- Ch 3 at the beginning of round counts as dc.
- Ch 1 at the beginning of round does not count
as a sc. Sc in same stitch as ch 1.
Instructions:
Foundation chain: With main color, ch 13
Round 1: 2 dc in back loop of fourth chain
from hook, dc in back lps of next 8 ch, 3 dc in back lp of last
ch. 3 dc in front lp of same ch, dc in front lps of next 8 ch,
3 dc in front lp of last ch. Join with ss to 3 ch of beginning
ch 3. (28 dc)
Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each
dc around. Join with ss to 3 ch of beginning ch 3. (56 dc)
Round 3: Ch 3, skip first st, dc in each dc
around. Join with ss to 3 ch of beginning ch 3. (56 dc)
Round 4: Repeat round 3.
Round 5: (Begin to shape toe) Ch 1, sc in next
20 st, dec 2 dc tog, (dec 2 tr tog) 6 times, dec 2 dc tog, sc
in next 20 st. Join with ss to first sc. (48 st)
Round 6: Ch 1, sc in next 18 st, dec 2 dc tog,
(dec 2 tr tog) 4 times, dec 2 dc tog, sc in next 18 st. Join
with ss to first sc. (42 st)
Round 7: (pick one)
Shells: Ch 2, 4 hdc in same st, (skip next
st, sc in next st, skip next st, 5 hdc in next st) 6 times,
sc in next st, join with ss to second ch of beginning ch 2.
Fasten off.
Picot: Ch 1, (sc, ss into next st, ch 3,
ss into same st, ss into next st) 14 times, join with ss to
first sc.
Plain: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with
ss to first sc. (42 sc)
Strap:
Foundation chain: ch 4.
Row 1: Sc into second ch from hk, sc in next
2 sc. Turn.
Row 2-7: Ch 1, sc into next 3 sc. Turn. Fasten
off after row 7.
To Finish:
Sew strap on inside of bootie onto row 6, about one inch from
toe. Crochet Flower #1, #2,
or #3 and sew to the toe of the bootie.
