Materials:
2 skeins (50 g/230 yards) fingering weight yarn
D3/3.25 mm hook
Stitches used:
ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
tr - triple crochet
dtr - double triple crochet
Please read the notes before beginning.
Instructions:
Foundation chain: Ch 100, join with sl st in first ch.
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each ch around, join
with sl st in first dc. (100 dc)
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, (ch 10, skip four dc, sc in next
dc) 19 times, ending with ch 5, dtr in first sc (makes last lp).
Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same lp, (ch 10, sc in next ch 10 sp) 19
times, ending with ch 5, dtr in first sc.
Round 4: Repeat round 3.
Round 5: Ch 1, sc in same lp, (ch 10, sc in next ch 10 sp) 19
times, ending with ch 10, sl st in first sc.
Round 6: Sl st in next four st, chain 4 (counts as first tr),
3 tr in same ch 10 sp, ch 6, (4 tr in next ch 10 sp, ch 6) 20 times,
join with sl st in beg ch 4. (4 tr in each tr group)
Round 7: Ch 4 (counts as first tr), tr in same tr, tr in next
two tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch 3, sc in ch 6 lp, ch 3, (sc in ch 6
lp, 2 tr in next tr, tr in next two tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch 3)
20 times, join with sl st in beg ch 4. (6 tr in each tr group)
Round 8: Ch 1, sc in same st, (ch 8, sc in last tr of tr group,
ch 8, sc in first tr of next tr group) 41 times, ending with ch
4, dtr in first sc.
Round 9: Ch 1, sc in same lp, (ch 8, sc in next ch 8 lp) 41 times,
ending with ch 4, dtr in first sc.
Round 10: Repeat round 9.
Round 11: Repeat round 9.
Round 12: Ch 1, sc in same lp, ch 8, (sc in next ch 8 lp, ch 8)
42 times, join with sl st in first sc.
Round 13: Sl st in next 3 st, ch 4 (counts as first tr), 4 tr
in same ch 8 lp, ch 3, sc in next ch 8 lp, ch 3, (5 tr in next
ch 8 lp, ch 3, sc in next ch 8 lp, ch 3) 20 times, join with sl
st in beg ch 4. (5 tr in each tr group)
Round 14: Ch 4 (counts as first tr), tr in each tr, ch 3, (sc
in next sc, ch 3, tr in each tr, ch 3) 20 times, join with sl st
in beg ch 4. (5 tr in each tr group)
Round 15: Ch 4 (counts as first tr), tr in next tr, two tr in
next tr, tr in next two tr, ch 3, (dc in next sc, ch 3, tr in next
two tr, 2 tr in next tr, tr in next two tr, ch 3) 20 times, join
with sl st in beg ch 4. (6 tr in each group)
Round 16: Ch 4 (counts as first tr), tr in each tr, ch 3, (dc
in dc, ch 3, tr in each tr, ch 3) 20 times, join with sl st in
beg ch 4. (6 tr in each tr group)
Round 17: Ch 4 (counts as first tr), tr in same tr, tr in next
four tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch 3, tr in dc, ch 3, (2 tr in next tr,
tr in next four tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch 3, tr in dc, ch 3) 20 times,
join with sl st in beg ch 4. (8 tr in each tr group)
Round 18: Ch 4 (counts as first tr), tr in each tr, ch 3, tr in
tr, ch 3, (tr in each tr, ch 3, tr in tr, ch 3) 20 times, join
with sl st in beg ch 4. Fasten off. (8 tr in each tr group)
Notes:
To add more rows, repeat rows 3, 9 and/or 18 as needed.
I actually used about 1.5 skeins of this
yarn.
To alter the size of the neck opening, increase or reduce the
foundation chain in multiples of five
