Happy New Year!

Well, we rang in the new year as we usually do, with a big meal (Cornish hen for Jeff, faux chicken for me, balsamic mashed sweet potatoes, caramelized onions, roasted yellow beets, and sauteed greens), a game (Monster Maker), a little entertainment (usually a movie, but this time two episodes of the third season of the new Doctor Who), then I fell asleep on the couch. Woke up around midnight, went to bed.

It may not sound like too much fun to you, but it was for us. I hope that your new year brings you what makes you happy, too.

Recovering

We are still recovering from the holidays, which were great. We got to see lots of family and got some great loot, including a Wii. I highly recommend a Wii, if you can get your hands on one. Loads of fun, especially playing Rayman Raving Rabbids. I mean, you get to throw a cow!

The dogs also got toys, several each. Here you see them pictured with the presents from their paternal grandparents:

Soon it will be time to take the decorations down. I'm ready. :)

Puppet theatre

We've been busy getting ready for the holidays around here, and one of the things we did was make a puppet theatre for one of our nieces. I designed it, Jeff built it and painted it, and I made the curtain. So really, Jeff did most of the work.

It's really hard to get a photo of it because of the paint. The black is chalkboard paint, and it just sucks up the light. But you get the idea.

Jeff did a great job. Thanks, Jeff!

Holiday stuff

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. With one big exception, we did.

Kaylee & the dinosaursThe big exception is that I got very ill on Christmas night - probably food poisoning. So if you were expecting a call from me and didn't get it, sorry. But I didn't think you wanted to talk to me while I hung out in the bathroom. :-) I'll be making some calls tonight. I'm mostly better, though I still could use some more sleep.

The dogs got a special treat of going over to Jeff's parents on Christmas day, and they had a wonderful time, especially with the giant dinosaur toys that their grandparents got them. I'm not sure that Kaylee knows they're toys. Every once in a while, she'll wander over and chew one one, much like she does Cordy's head. She doesn't really play with them, though she does like to sleep next to them.

Jeff's parents also got him a light-up palm tree, which is currently in the corner of the living room. I should have gotten a photo of it, but I was just too worn out. I'll try to get one tonight. They also got me a new iPod, one of the video ones. (This also means that Jeff gets my old iPod, so he got a bonus gift. :) I've had a fun time looking for free vids to put on it. Let me know if you know of any, OK?
