One of the reasons I wanted to go to the arboretum was to take photos of flowers to adorn the walls of my upstairs hallway and maybe the living room. I got a few that should work. Click here for more photos.

Lily = Agapanthus. It's very common here on the coast. Snails LOVE them and they are super easy to grow. They thrive on neglect. http://www.agapanthus.org.uk/
Rose-like Tree = From the picture it looks like you’ve captured a snap of a camellia. Like a rose it comes in several floral varieties – floribunda, single (these look more like a hibiscus) and double floribunda. http://www.camellias-acs.com/

Next time you find yourself in our fair city (and I am not moving!) we have to do lunch and we can go see more pirates at the LA Maritime Museum in San Pedro. That's a super-cool place to visit too.
Thank for all the plant IDs! I knew I should have been writing down all the names as I took pictures, but I was just too excited. :)
The palm is really a palm, though. I can't remember which kind, but I distinctly remember it being a type of palm tree. Some of the trees were pretty big. The biggest that I saw was probably about 9-10 feet high. It would have made sense for me to snap pics of the labels, too, wouldn't it? :)
Next time I'm there we'll definitely do lunch, Lady L. I hope moving went well, though!

The Huntington (which is about 5 minutes from my place, actually) made the short list, but Jessica opted for the Arboretum instead. :) (I've been there a couple of times - I thought one of those times was with you, J., but I can't remember.) I've yet to see the Cactus garden at the Huntington...
